I KNOW the Evolution.

Being a 20 year old man in 1980, and starting my career as a Harley-Davidson Mechanic, this book is a great addition to my library. Much of it I remember, Much of it I didn't know. Reading th ebook brought back floods of memmories of those years wrenching on those very bikes, the dealerships, the owners, the colors, the models and a majority of my H-D wrenching experience. The Evolution is one of my favorite H-D engines. One of the most reliable too. My favorites include Flatheads, Knuckleheads, Panheads, Shovelheads and of course the Evolution. It's also a great bike/engine, transmission and chassis to work on.

Greg Field is one of my favorite motorsport authors

Greg Field is one of my favorite motorsport authors. The photos throughout the book will qualify it as a 'coffee table book', of which there are an over-abundance on Harley-Davidsons. But, there is real 'meat' in the text, drawing on H-D's history with the earlier motors to give a real understanding of how the Evolution motor came about. If you own an Evo Harley, want to add one to your collection, or want to learn about the motor that led up to your Twin Cam, this book contains much info you may not know.
I also have a vested interest in this book. I was able to help the author in a very small, but critical way and for that, Greg graciously included my name in the acknowledgements. Woo-Hoo, my little 15 seconds of fame!

Lots of information on the Sporster1100 and the rare sand cast heads. The limited production "Liberty Edition" got them but they dropped after 1987.
