Book has sole

If anyone would have told me I would have enjoyed a book about athletic shoes I would have taken umbrage and considered them somewhat lacking in the gray matter area. How wrong I would have been! This book is a whole lot of fun. And no tongue in cheek here. Fun to reminisce about different athletic shoes by various manufacturers through the ages that most of us have worn or have at least been privy to seeing. The book does focus on the major brands like Nike, Reebok, Adidas, etc., but does also highlight and showcase other manufacturers and models of shoes. Heard is British, so some of the shoes probably were not available on this side of the Atlantic. A few of the shoes I wouldn't mind having now. Yo MTV Raps Big Daddy Kane shoes from Puma! What more could anyone ever ask for? Heard likes his shoes and it shows! Not sure I will cancel my membership in the New Balance owners' forum for Air Jordan 3s on eBay, but............ Fun book. Easy read that is well worth the effort to read.

Good starting point for an education on sneakers

A British book from 2003 which would explain its page-count preference for showcasing the likes of Adidas but nonetheless this is a frothy and enthusiastic look at what is Neal Heard's 'All-Time Favorite Footwear Brands' with serviceable showcases of specific models and color-forms. The overall curating is nicely executed with a near perfect text to image ratio and a narrative style fully appropriate to the subject matter.
